About ME
Imagine waking up every morning feeling confident, empowered, and ready to take on the world.
How amazing would that feel? My goal is to help you get there.

I am Dr. Miyokia D. Carter, Ed.D., LPC, NCC—a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and passionate advocate for personal growth and emotional well-being. I believe in helping individuals grow into the best version of themselves by equipping them with the skills and tools they need to secure and maintain their emotional health.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Child, Family, and Social Services and my Master of Education in School Counseling from Nicholls State University. I later received my Doctorate of Education in Community Care and Counseling, with a concentration in Traumatology, from Liberty University.
With over five years of experience in education, mental health, and social services, I work with a wide range of populations, including adults, at-risk youth and families, and children in K–12 school settings. Beyond my counseling work, I am deeply committed to community service:
-
Co-Founder, Melanin Magic Makeovers – A nonprofit providing mentorship to young girls in Louisiana ages 10–21.
-
Board Member, Lifted By Love – Supporting mothers, children, and families in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or at-risk—especially teen mothers—to prevent future abuse.
-
Board Member, BeWell Foundation – Dedicated to improving community health and well-being by providing education, resources, and access to quality healthcare, while advocating for policies that promote health equity and mental wellness.
Everything I do is rooted in a deep passion for helping others heal, grow, and thrive—because you deserve to live a life filled with purpose, peace, and joy.
